Bitterroot Restoration

The Lablab purpureus grows as a vine, producing purple flowers and striking electric-purple coloured seed pods. It is a good choice for a quick screen on a trellis or fence.

Impatiens balsamina is an annual plant growing to 20–75 cm tall, with a thick, but soft stem. Their leaves are spirally-arranged, 2.5–9 cm long and 1–2.5 cm broad, with a deeply toothed margin.

Hygrophila auriculata is an annual herb or under shrub, it grows to a height of about 60 cms. Generally the plant is found on wet places. Their stem is square and thickened at nodes and hairy. The bark is dark brown.

Heliotropium indicum is a common weed in waste places and settled areas. It is an annual, erect, branched plant that can grow to a height of about 15 to 50 cm. It has a hairy stem, bearing alternating ovate to oblong-ovate leaves.

Their leaves alternate and have no stipules, flowers in compact heads with 5 stamens, the heads often appear as the flowers when actually some have ray flowers and small tube flowers in central disk, under each flower head is a small grouping of leaflets, known as bracts.

Gomphrena globosa is an annual plant that grows up to 24 inches in height. The narrow oblong leaves are opposite, 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) long. Their leaves at first are wooly white, becoming sparsely white and hairy as they age.

Gnaphalium luteo-album is a cosmopolitan weed.It grows as an erect herb up to 70 centimetres high, branching from the base.

Euryale ferox is the only species in the genus Euryale. It is a flowering plant classified in the water lily family. It grows in water, producing bright purple flowers.

This plant grows up to 20 cm long, 1-3 mm in diam. Their leaves opposite; stipules lanceolate or linear, 1-1.5 mm, easily fallen. Male flowers few, slightly exserted from involucre.

This hairy plant grows up to 2' in height.  It has numerous small flowers clustered together with opposite oblong leaves, which have a toothed margin. The young yellow fruit is a small hairy capsule with 3 reddish - brown wrinkled seeds.
