Common name: Kanthalichapa, katchampa(Beng.).
Life cycle: Perennail

Artabotrys hexapetalus are very interesting, medium sized vines from Asia. All are woody small trees or shrubs with recurved hooks with a tendency to climb. They are quite sturdy and easy to grow. Any location from full sun to filtered light would be good. Leaves are simple and alternate, without hairs. Bisexual flowers are borne singly or in cluster opposite the leaves, the stalks thick and hooked. The flowers are 6-petalled, scented, with many stamens.

It is believed to relieve high blood pressure, normalize sebum secretion for skin problems, and is considered to be an aphrodisiac. The oil from Artabotrys hexapetalu is widely used in perfumery for oriental or floral themed perfumes. It blends well with most floral, fruit and wood smells.
