Callicarpa macrophylla is an evergreen large shrub or small tree with densely hairy parts. Leaves simple opposite. Eye-catching flowers in a terminal cymes, with four purple petals. Oppositely arranged leaves. Fruit is a red, globose berry. The leaves are used as an herbal medicine to treat rheumatic joints. The leaves can also be use to make a herbal drink or as decorations.

It is cooling, fragrant, astringent and rejuvenative in properties. It is used in the diseases like tumors, hyperdipsia, diarrhea, diabetes, hyperhidrosis, fever, burning sensation of the body, dysentery etc.
